Backs up and faithfully restores all the special metadata of Mac files that other products dont, including resource forks, ACLs, and creator codes. Following the initial backup, Arq automatically makes incremental backups every hour, every day, uploading just the files that have changed since your last backup. Arq keeps hourly backups for the past 24 hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly backups for everything older than a month.
Arq lets you set a budget for S3 storage, and it automatically drops the oldest backups to keep within the budget. Arq backs up everything with no limits. It backs up files of any size, external drives, and network drives. Arq “de-duplicates your backups, never storing the same file twice in your S3 account.
- Configurable backup schedule: hourly, once/day at a certain time of day, or manually.
- Back Up Now feature.
- Pause backups for an amount of time you choose.
- Resume early if you wish. (‘Pause’ is better than ‘stop’ because you won’t have to remember to start it again).
- Progress indicator next to the “Other Computers” heading in the source list (on the left side of the window) so you can tell when Arq is still scanning for other computers’ backups in the S3 data.
- Many more enhancements.
